I would say that my cookbook is the most exciting thing that I have been “cooking up” ? this last year.
This project started a 19 for 2019. Where are my Gretchen Rubin fans? I wanted to have all our family favorite and traditional recipes in one place. I also knew I wanted to have full-page images of every recipe. Since I am a photographer, I wanted beautiful images! This lead me down a new, and oh, so fun path of food photography!
I had so much fun taking what I have learned in photography over the last eleven years and applying them to food. Food as art is pretty much a match made in heaven. I’m not going to sugar coat it; food photography is harder than I thought it would be. My first few attempts were not so good, but as I studied (gotta love the university of google) and got more and more experience I found taking pictures of food filled my cup more than I ever expected!
This book took on a life of it’s own. What started as a book for me and my family, quickly became one of the most asked about and requested topics on my social media. It went from a little thing that I would keep on my shelf, to something that people were asking about.
The recipes were chosen by my family. It’s organized the way my family choose to organize it. The categories are; Classics, Easter, Birthdays, Fall and Thanksgiving, and Christmas. I put them in the order things happen here in the Parrish home.
I had so much fun creating this book that plans are already in the works to make at least two more.
I LOVE photographing food. I can’t stop now! I’m just getting started.
Have you ever considered food photography? How about creating a cherished family heirloom by collection your family recipes? And how can I help you create beautiful images of your food?
